iPhone 7 vs iPhone 8

The September 7 Apple iPhone 7 launch gave us a detailed specification list of the latest device from Apple‘s flagship iPhone line with both the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus revealed on the day. However, that is not all as the revealing of these two premiumsmartphones, speculations about the 2017 iPhone 8 have also surfaced on the web. The 8th instalment of the hugely commercial iPhone series will release on next year which will also mark the 10 year anniversary of the iPhone series as the first iPhone was launched back in 2007.

Here is look at how the iPhone 8 (2017) will compare to the current iPhone 7 in terms of device Specifications:

iPhone 8 vs iPhone 7 Features:

Screen Resolution:

Judging by the rumours circulating on the web, the Apple iPhone 8 will most probably feature an AMOLED display which will be a departure from the LCD displays in the previous versions of iPhones till the iPhone 7. Rumours suggest Apple will use a 5-inch or larger edge-to-edge display which will be most probably flexible OLED instead of LCD which will also give the device a weight advantage. OLED displays also offer better contrast ratio, truer colours, improved viewing angles, better power efficiency to maximise battery life and it has already been put to use in the latest Smart-Watch Series 2 By Apple.Apple’s iPhone 7 has an LCD screen that offers 625 nits of brightness, significantly more than the 500 nits of the iPhone 6s. However, the significant transition will be LCD to OLED which will make the rumoured iPhone 8 much brighter in all aspects while still sporting the same 5.5-inch while the new device might also support 4K resolution.

The outlook of latest iPhone 7 doesn’t bear any major departure from the design of the iPhone 6 from two years ago but with the iPhone 8, things might just be starting to change. The latest design from Apple for the 2017 upcoming device is slated to be Apple’s sleekest ever and that is saying something since the thickness of the iPhone 7 is just 7.3mm.

Apple blogger John Gruber says he’s heard some “scuttlebutt” suggesting Apple has plans to implement an edge-to-edge display. That means the phone would have no bezels on the side of the device and the entire front-end of the device will be taken up by the display. Rumours suggest that iPhone 8 will have a new curved display, we might see other buttons, including volume rockers, standby switch, and the mute switch fade into the screen and be replaced by virtual buttons that deliver Taptic Engine-driven feedback.

iPhone 7

Hardware Specifications:

he latest addition to the iPhone family, the iPhone 7 Plus’snew A10 Fusion Processoris a 64-bit, four-core processor with over 3.3 million transistors. From a performance perspective, the A10 Fusion chip is 120 times as fast as the chip in the first iPhone and is currently the fastest chipset in the world. The fact that the iPhone 8 will feature the next-to-next gen A11 Chipset which is slated to be50 percent faster than the A10, and three times faster than the A9 promises console level graphics performance.

TSMC has begun to tape out the design for the A11 chip built on a 10-nanometer process, which will be both faster and more energy efficient than the A10 Fusion.

Battery Life and Water Resistance :

Phil Schiller said on stage that we’re heading to a future without wires when explaining one of the reasons the 3.5mm headphone jack was omitted from the iPhone 7.Apple’s new iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus come with the longest battery life ever on an iPhone and again that’s saying something. The chipset in the phones contribute to longer battery life and thereby a minimum of 12 hours talk time is an easy do for the battery of this premium device. The iPhone 8 is rumoured to house a slightly stronger battery which will see the total talk time period vamp up to 18 hours. A 3,050 mAh battery is what is expected from the 2017 phone with the addition of a possible wireless charging specification.

The iPhone 8 will surely improve on the iPhone 7 in terms of sturdiness and hold the IPX7 water-resistant feature which is the same as the Apple Watch. On account of this feature, the device willbe waterproof to a depth of 1m up to a time of 30 minutes.

Camera Specifications:

On the Camera front, the iPhone 7 Plus which is the premium version from this years launch offers camera specifications which is nothing short of mid-level DSLR quality.iPhone 7 sports a dual lens rear camera with both the lenses at a megapixel count of 12 . One of the cameralenses includes a 12MP Wide-angle while the otheris a 12-megapixel telephoto lens with the f/2.8 aperture that brings over optical zoom to the iPhone. The video options of the Rear end camera include2160p@30fps, 1080p@30/60/120fps and 720p@240fps.

Apple will surely vamp up the camera specifications for sure in the upcoming 2017 device and what we are expecting is a dual lens rear camera both with a megapixel count of 16MP which will definitely support 4K video recording.

As of now, every piece of information regarding the iPhone 8 is a speculation based on rumours on the web and the confirmed specification list regarding the 2017 device will be available as soon as as Apple hints at its possible launch date or gives us a sneak peak of the concept of the device.
