Instead of having a home button that you can feel moving underneath your finger, in the current home button, you’ll feel Apple’s Taptic Engine to simulate the feeling of being clicked. Using the Taptic Engine, the phone will deliver users notifications withunique buzzes on incoming pings like notifications, messages, and even ringtones. Moreover, third-party programs will be also able to program their own vibrations.

A master of innovative technology, of course, this isn’t the first time Apple has dropped a mechanical part in favour of a digitised version. To recall, the click wheel on the iPod had a moving part in 2001 but was replaced the following year with a capacitive version.

The much awaited Apple Event started at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium with the CEO of the US-based tech conglomerate Tim Cook hosting the event. Keep glued to our website more iPhone 7 news and Apple event news.
