iOS 10.0.2

iOS 10.0.2: In its second full release, Apple has launched iOS 10.0.2 just nine days after the release of iOS 10 that came out at the start of this month along with iPhone 7. Like the previous iOS 10.0.1, there is no developers or public version available for testing.

iOS 10 Compatibility:

iOS 10.0.2 continues Apple iOS release and its compatible with iPhone 5 or later, iPad 2 or later, iPad mini 2 or later, iPad Pro range and the 6th generation iPod touch or later.

How to Upgrade to iOS 10.0.2?

Apple device users should automatically receive prompts for the upgrade but in case you don’t, then got to Settings > General > Software Update. Size of the upgrade should come in between 40MB and 120MB. But as we know that iOS upgrades differ from device to device, for the new iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus the upgrade is going to be larger.

It’s worth noting that Apple is cracking on jailbreaks. Therefore the new iOS 10.0.2 is likely to be more protective and can cause breakdown of any Pangu or TaiG jailbreak you are running. In Apple discussion threads, users who have upgraded their Apple devices have come across several issues like increased data usage, alarm clock issues and missing contacts. By the looks of it, these are isolated issues and can have several reasons behind their occurrence.

What’s New?

The iOS 10.0.2 primarily fixes bugs. It’s a patch for the recently found iPhone 7 audio bug. Some of the issues that the all new iOS address are:

  • Fixing headphone audio controls from temporarily not working
  • Fixes the problem that caused Photos to quit when turning on iCloud Photo Library
  • Resolves the issue that prevented enabling some app extensions

Verdict: Do you need to upgrade iOS 10.0.2?

The iOS 10.0.2 is going to smooth out a  number of issues faced by Apple device. For folks who’s been hit by the audio issue are advised to upgrade immediately. The iOS 10.0.2 doesn’t bring any major new features. Like we said, it’s primarily a patch to fix issues. But there really isn’t a reason not to upgrade.

We are speculating that iOS 10.0.3 will arrive before the final version of iOS 10.1 is released after a month or so.
