Indian Railways tries to improve its goods carriage and is all set for the ‘Auto Express’, a service that will ferry cargo from Gurugram, Haryana to Nidvanda, Karnataka. To target 25 per cent increase in income with the automobile freight traffic, the Indian Railways has launched the first timetabled auto freight train. Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu said that  India is an overpopulated country where the population is continuously increasing at a faster rate, and as the auto sector is a fastest growing economy and that is why railway wants to enter it to get a major source of revenue.

Auto Express promises on Tuesday, 13th July that timely, but also speedy, delivery of automobiles. According to the news, the service is promising 2000 cars to transport between Gurgaon and Nidavanda every month. The launch of the timetabled auto-car freight train will go up along with the number of trips, and they have a target of whooping 6000 cars per months. Railway Board Member Mohd Jamshed said the service has already launched time-tabled Cargo Express, and now they are going one step forward with the Auto Express. The Indian Railway is taking every possible measure to make the movement more convenient with some special arrangement. These special trains will have waggons to run 100 km per hour that will decrease the time duration of the journey from 70 hours to 57 hours.


Indian Railways authorities had announced India’s first rail auto hub in April, which is established in Walajabad, Kanchipuram. Manufacturers such as Hyundai, Nissan, and Ford will be mostly benefitted from this unique service, and it is expected to give service to 1 million units of cars every year.

No doubt this new venture will bring a revolutionary change in automobile service and also it will be immensely beneficial for the Railway department who will be able to earn an excellent remuneration at the end of the day.
