The Indian cricket team for the upcoming India vs England one-day international series is finally announced amidst all sorts of drama. The meeting for the team selection began late as there was immense confusion regarding who was to convene the meeting. And in the end, it was the CEO of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) who took over and the whole selection process moved on smoothly.
Coming to the news regarding the team selection, the one that has grabbed the attention of all the cricket fans is the one which revealed that Yuvraj Singh will be making a comeback to the one-day international team. Among the others who will be making their comeback, we have Shikhar Dhawan who was left out of the test team against England. He also did not play in the one-day series against the Kiwis which India won with a scoreline of 2-1. The biggest name missing in the squad is that of Suresh Raina who was expected to be included in the fifteen men squad. The India vs England one-day internationals would kick-off from January 15.
The one-day internationals would be followed by the T20 internationals between India and England. The team selected for the T20 internationals has a number of new faces. Among those, we have Rishabh Pant who put up an eye-catching performance in the recently concluded ICC under-19 Cricket World Cup. Ashish Nehra has retained his place in the T20 internationals while the team would be led by Virat Kohli.
This series will also see Virat Kohli leading the side after Mahendra Singh Dhoni decided to give up captaincy a couple of days back. However, Dhoni will be playing in both the India vs England one-day internationals as well as the T20 internationals.
