Season 5 of Homeland ended with a lot of questions unanswered and a bunch of shockers for fans, so it is unsurprising that what we can expect from Homeland, Season 6 is typically shrouded in speculation. The successful American political thriller was renewed for a fresh seasononDecember 9, 2015, and it has been announced that Season 6 will debut in early 2017. Till then, we have a lot of time to munch over a host of conjectures about which way the upcoming season will go.

First off, Season 6 will feature a character who was widely supposed to have been dead. Peter Quinn, who suffereda massive stroke last season, spent the last few episodes in his hospital bed while showing no signs of recovery. But after photos of Rupert Friend on set for the upcoming season surfaced, we all know that he will be making a comeback. The first question we have is, how was he resuscitated from his former condition? But while that remains to be a matter of speculation, the show makers have revealed a few interesting details about how Quinn’s character will appear on Homeland, Season 6.

Showrunner Alex Gansa revealed that thenew season will show a “very changed and altered Quinn,” which will impact not only his personal life, but also his professional front.“Quinn this coming season will really represent a very profound and familiar casualty of the war on terror for our audience. What he endured last year is different from what he’s going through this year (with Carrie, Claire Danes‘s character),” said Gansa. According to Hollywood Life, Friend was seen on the sets in a very different get-up from what we’re used to seeing him as, sporting long hair and loose, baggy clothes.

Danes was also spotted filming on the set, but she looked a little more stressed than usual, reported the site. As for her character, ex-CIA Carrie Mathison, Gansa revealed that we can expect to see her embarking on a “verydifferent and singular journey” in Homeland, Season 6. The character was seen caught up in a struggle with her own demons in the last season, and going by Gansa’s comment, we can expect her to confront quite a lot of them in the next season.

Homeland Season 6 will start airing from January 15, 2017.
