We won’t get our hands on Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, Ninja Theory‘s upcoming title, anytime soon. The developer has announced instead of the previously scheduled 2016 release, the game has now been pushed back to 2017. While this may appear to be bad news for those who have been intrigued by the game’s look, delays may eventually mean all kinds of good things for an upcoming title. In the case ofHellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, the developers have assured fans that all is well.
In a video shared by the developers over at Ninja Theory, the reasons for the delay have been addressed. First off, a cancellation from the studio earlier this year slowed things down for all the other projects lined up. Secondly, the indie studio is presently in collaboration with Epic Games for some truly amazing development in performance-capture technology that will be used in some of their upcoming games. But most importantly, the developers have said that work on the upcoming title is not progressing as fast as they would like, and hence the need to push the date back to 2017.
Honestly, we are not disappointed. Being an independent studio, the small team of developers have decided not to rush through the title just to get it out of the way before it turns out perfectly. Also, as the video explains, the studio took a different approach and chose to announce the game right at the start of its development to bring the whole creative process closer to fans. This is another reason why the game seems like it’s taking a whole lot of time. However, as an added bonus, the developers showcased a good chunk of what we can expect in the upcoming game, including the significant use of motion-capture technology that will be used inHellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice. Going by the looks of it, it will be one hell of a game to watch out for.
As for an exact release date for Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, we haven’t been told about that yet. The game will be playable on the Windows PC and PS 4.
