‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child’

Euphoria for the Potter fans, as the eighth tale of J.K. Rowling’s wizardry saga, the Harry Potter and the Cursed Child started playing from Monday at the Palace Theatre in London’s West End. Not only that, the two-part play was originally scheduled to close next year on May 27, but the huge demand for the tickets made the producers Colin Callender, Sonia Friedman and Harry Potter Theatrical Productions to extend the play’s run by seven months.

This extension of the runtime will now give a-quarter-of-a-million Potter fans the chance the to experience the Harry Potter and the Cursed Child and a new block of 250,000 tickets of the performance till  10th December 2017 will be released for sale on 4th August. Each ticket will be priced at £20 or less so that fans of all income brackets can watch this much-hyped drama, and 300 tickets per performance will be published.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is written by Jack Thorne and directed by John Tiffany, based on the original new story by J.K. Rowling, Tiffany and Thorne. This two-part play is designed in such a manner, that the fans have to see it over two nights or at consecutive performances on matinee days. The play is highlighted on the new generation, the children of Harry, Ron, Hermione and Draco Malfoy, as the main characters are busy with the challenge of parenting.

After a couple of shows, critics are currently going gaga over Harry Potter and the Cursed Child as the play is a continuation of the original Potter saga and also comes with a unique theatrical experience. As a clever marketing move, the drama production is also distributing free badges after each performance which reads #keepthesecrets. The ploy has been successful largely, as the attempt to keep the plot developments under the wraps has been paid off and the reviewers, as well as the fans, have been tight-lipped regarding the show.

Although the play is running in full fledge in London, there is still no news about showcasing the drama on Broadway, New York. But as both Friedman and Callender comes with a strong New York stage ventures, the trans-Atlantic transfer of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is very much possible within a few days.

So after the superb London launch and a massive appeal for Rowling’s stories, the Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is surely going to be an international stage blockbuster.
