Halo Wars, the real-time strategy game set in the universe of Microsoft‘s acclaimed Halo series, was announced to be getting a refreshed version for the Windows 10 PC and Xbox One during June this year. While this new version, titled Halo Wars: Definitive Edition which includes all the additional DLC from the original game is yet to be released officially, it will be available for some starting today.

Gamespot reports that the Definitive Edition will be exclusive for only a select few, specifically for those who have pre-ordered the Ultimate Edition of the upcoming sequel in the series, Halo Wars 2. Halo Wars 2 is set for release sometime in February next year. The Halo Wars 2: Ultimate Edition comes with the Halo Wars: Definitive Edition bundles along with it. So if you have pre-ordered the exclusive bundle, you will be given a token to download the revamped 2009 original.

The codes are supposed to start rolling out today, but there may be a slight delay in some cases as Microsoft has announced. It could take about a week for your exclusive code to reach you. When it does, however, you can immediately go over to the official Microsoft Xbox Prepaid Code page and redeem it to start downloading.

The Halo Wars series is a spinoff of sorts of 343 Industries and Microsoft’s Halo games. With Halo 6 coming up next, the creators have teased that the story of Halo Wars 2 will tie in with the rest of the Halo series. Some of the characters from the earlier Halo games are also set to make an appearance in Halo Wars 2, though it has not been revealed which ones.

Upon its release on February 21, 2017, Halo Wars 2 will be playable on the Windows PC and Xbox One.
