Halo Wars 2: The sequel to the 2009 video game Halo Wars will be launched in February 2017 for Microsoft Windows and the Xbox One video game console. A few weeks ago players and reviewers got a chance to try the new gameplay modes, revealing a few details about the game. Speaking to Game Spot, 343 Industries’ narrative design director Kevin Grace reveals what the upcoming title holds.
Halo Wars 2: The Story?
The Halo Wars 2 was originally conceived to be just a spinoff of the original Halo games. Grace explains that whatever story they choose it’ll have the Halo appeal. “Because I can’t just run off and write whatever story I want.” That’d be fun, but if it doesn’t connect to what the designers are doing and planning and would actually make a fun game, then I’m wasting everybody’s time,” Grace said. Set 28 years after the Halo Wars, in Halo Wars 2 the past will haunt the crew of the Spirit of Fire and prepare themselves of what’s coming. Grace explains at times they have had to do away with entire arcs because although the story should be related to the halo franchise, the story needs to keep moving ahead.
Halo Wars 2: Characters
Halo Wars 2 will be revealing a much more interesting dynamic between core Halo characters and their own cast. “We don’t want to squander any of those characters that we spent so long cultivating these awesome things. We’ve answered this question a couple of other different ways, but certainly when you talk about units and assets and equipment, there will be crossovers in that regard,” Grace explains. We have no idea which of these characters will meet in Halo Wars 2. There are chances that some old Halo games can make a appearances causing a shift in the narrative. Rumor is old characters like Arbiter, Spartan Locke and even Master Chief can make an appearance in the upcoming installment.
Halo Wars 2 will be on February 21, 2017 for the Xbox One and PC.
