The Arjun Kapoor, Shraddha Kapoor starer movie Half Girlfriend released this Friday but the start is not very impressive. After the most engaging trailer that was nowadays center of many memes and spoofs, the movie failed to gather viewers at the box office. Even the magic spell, ‘From The Makers of Aashiqui 2 and Ek Villain’, that the makers used for making the movie popular were of no use. Despite being a movie based on a novel of much-loved-and-read-author Chetan Bhagat, the movie missed creating the spark.
After being nurtured by so many factors, the movie was expected to be a boom but if the early reports are to be believed, the movie was not able to woo the audience much.
The Mohit Suri’s movie got a lukewarm response from the audience as the first shoe of the movie secured only 15% occupancy. However, there is speculation of growth on Saturday & Sunday. The movie has to face tough battles with Rajamouli’s Baahubali: The Conclusion, which is not going to end soon and Irffan Khan starer, Hindi Medium. However, the larger release platform of Half Girlfriend can boost its growth.
In an interview with a leading media house, Mohit Suri excepted that Baahubali Mania is still on its full spree and all the new releases have to face a tough competition with the Rajamouli’s epic film. “Anyone who says that they are just excited and not anxious and scared is lying. You cannot deny that Baahubali 2 is there and even Hindi Medium is releasing on the same day. You would want all the competition to be perfect for your film. But mainly I want the film to be liked. It’s a film with a big heart, rather than a big budget, so I think I am looking for that,” Mohit said.
