The first trailer of the much awaited Guardians of The Galaxy Vol. 2 has been released and the upcoming movie slated for a 2017 release Many changes are coming for Star-Lord and his intergalactic band of misfits, one of the biggest being Baby Groot. The end of James Gunn’s first Marvel film saw the talking tree with the heart of gold sacrificing himself, but emerging as a small, talking potted plant that’s since been dubbed Baby Groot.
Vin Diesel will voice the new (though, perhaps, not improved) Groot in Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2 alongside Chris Pratt as Star-Lord, Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Dave Bautista as Drax, Bradley Cooper as the voice of Rocket Raccoon, and Kurt Russell as Ego the Living Planet (and daddy Star-Lord), among others. Diesel also revealed on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon that he’ll be recording his various Groot catchphrases in 16 other languages.
“I think people are gonna love this movie. I think people are gonna loveGuardians. I know that, on the first one, I, like, recorded six different languages, and now James Gunn wants to increase the number of languages we do this in. So, every ADR-ed line, every moment in the movie I have to do like 15, 16 times in different languages — which are cool because, you know, it means that my voice is being heard in countries where that’s not always the case, even with big movies that you do, like xXx or Fast [& Furious]. It’s usually voice actors in respective markets that say your lines and that’s not necessarily what the character is always. So, I love that, but it definitely makes it that much more challenging.”
Vol. 2 was a key part of Marvel’s Hall H presentation at San Diego Comic-Con 2016, where a sizzling reel of footage brought the house down. Ever since the panel, fans have been wondering when an official marketing campaign would get under way. The company line has long been that viewers should expect a teaser around the time Doctor Strange was hitting theatres. The Sorcerer Supreme makes his big screen debut in the U.S. on November 4.
With a run time of 1 minute and 29 seconds, the classified preview of the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will be a teaser in the most literal sense. The film is scheduled for release on May 5, 2017.
