The two phases of the state Legislative Assembly Elections in Kolkata saw much violence. The first phase however witnessed more of it. On the next phase, the police along with the Central Force was seen very active and they took swift actions against the goons. Some of the alleged were arrested too. It seemed that the election commission had exerted huge pressure and kept a strict eye on the total electoral procedure. Out of the mishaps, the most remarkable one was that a three and a half year old baby was also not spared. Just to threaten the parents and other locals around they did not just threaten to kill the baby but also had beaten him up. However the cry of the baby could not stop the parents. With full protection provided by the Election Commission, they went to the polling booth to cast the vote.
The Election Commission is seen taking strict actions on each and every issue. Similarly, for the next phase also the commission is fully prepared and has already started taking actions. To be more specific, four police officials were removed three days before the election phase of South 24 Parganas. At least 680 companies CPF and 26000 state police personnel will provide security in the area that day, ECI confirmed. As per the reports, the ECI may repeat its actions if they feel it to be necessary or get any kind of report.
