Set in the medieval era, For Honor brings together three mystical military factions from all over the world, namely the Knights (Europe), the Samurai (East), and the Vikings (North). Players will have the chance to choose from each of these factions to play as a member of. Additionally, For Honor being primarily a hack and slash title will feature a variety of blades to select from, ranging from axes to Samurai swords. Ubisoft’s For Honor will have three main warring factions: Knights, Vikings, and Samurais. For Honor is an upcoming standalone title from Ubisoft, and that alone is reason enough to make it one of the most anticipated games of next year. The company is well-known for creating some of the highest grossing and critically acclaimed franchises of all time, including Assassin’s Creed. Fans love the kind of storytelling that the developers delve into, and they have tackled the stories of characters ranging from hackers (Watch Dogs and Watch Dogs 2) to army personnel (Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon). But that is not to say they bank solely on their money-making franchises. Watch Dogs came out in 2014 as a standalone title (Watch Dogs 2 is up for release this month) and scored big with fans worldwide for its difference in appeal. Similarly, For Honor with its combination of myths, legends, and realistic combat has its own unique flavour. Players will have the freedom to customise the characters to their liking. The armours will be super realistic as well as the weapons. The gear for each character type will be different , and they can all be customised. Besides building their own sword, players will also be able to add different colour patterns and symbols, as well as ornamental pieces that can be added to the characters. None of that will come easy, however. In an interview with Gamespot, the game’s creative director Jason VandenBerghe said they will have to be earned as the game progresses. “You’ll get gear, and the gear comes with stats as well, which lets you do some fine-tune modifications to the way the character plays. So you can slightly adjust it–like trade off a little bit of speed for a little bit of damage,” he added. The game will have both single player and multiplayer campaigns, though it is mainly the latter one that has been highlighted in demonstrations. The most recent one, an Alpha test mode, allowed hundreds of players to key in to try out the game’s ultra-realistic fighting system. The test was wildly successful, and players were thrilled to experience some of the combat mechanics in multiplayer campaigns. But one thing was proven for certain, playing the game in multiplayer will require a significant amount of skill. For Honor Multiplayer Mode: There will be five different multiplayer modes in For Honor: Dominion (an objective-based mode in which players fight for control of the battlefield), Brawl (a round where players will need to kill the two enemy Heroes to win), Duel (where two Heroes are pitched against each other in a fight to the death), Skirmish (a kind of death match) and Elimination (a round where the last surviving player on the battlefield takes a win for their team). For Honor Single Player Campaign: Coming to For Honor‘s single player mode, the developers have guaranteed that it will be big. The cinematic Story Mode trailer that was showcased at this year’s E3 revealed the apocalyptic scale of destruction that resulted in the game’s main three factions become fierce opponents to each other. It also showcased how the game’s mystical elements will drive the story forward; for instance, Apollyon, a ruthless angel of destruction, wants to ensure that the Knights, Samurais and Vikings are forever caught in an endless war. The Factions: In For Honor, the Vikings, the Samurais, and the Knights are the three legendary camps that boast of a unique characteristic style of gameplay. Each of these groups features four distinct classes, namely Vanguard (skilled in offence and defence), Heavy (the tanks), Assassin (efficient duelists) and finally, Hybrid (extremely adaptable combination of the previous three). All heroes are unique and have their own distinct weapons, skills, armours and fighting styles. The trailer below from earlier this year showcases each of these factions in all their glory.
