The “POTY” winner of the EPL last season, the Chelsea superstar Eden Hazard could leave the “Blues” after the end of this season. The Belgian wonder kid has been linked heavily with Real Madrid and according to the Spanish media and the sources at the Santiago Bernabeu, this highly rated attacking midfielder has already agreed a move in personal terms and accepted a “deal in principle”.
Zinedine Zidane, the legendary footballer and the newly appointed Real Madrid coach has been a long time admirer of Eden Hazard and he played the most crucial role behind this rumored transfer. On the other hand, Hazard also idolizes Zidane and this mutual fondness for each other may play a significant role behind this alleged transfer talk. If the “Los Galacticos” really wants this move to happen in the summer, they have to pay Chelsea a whooping 78million cash to trigger his release clause.
Hazard played the pivotal role behind Chelsea’s fifth EPL triumph last year. His skills with and without the ball and the goal-scoring prowess was unmatchable and won the Player of the Year award deservingly. But, since the beginning of the 2015-16 season, his form has dipped drastically. He scored goals hardly, created a very few chances and also lacks in his lethal dribbling skills. The hip-injury has also made things worse and makes his season more miserable at the Stamford Bridge. Even the supporters also believe that Hazard played a big part in Jose Mourinho’s departure in December and a set of fans even tagged him as one of the “Three Rats” who conspired against the 2-times UCL winning Portuguese manager. So, all these things make the Belgian to set his mind to leave Chelsea at the end of this season.
On the other hand, Real Madrid’s Hazard coup could prove costly for another eccentric midfielder and the best player of the last World Cup, James Rodriguez. James joined Real Madrid after a successful World Cup campaign for a mammoth €80 million ($107 million) fee from Monaco. According to the sources, If Hazard moves to the Bernabeu, Zidane could put this Colombian playmaker up for sale. Also James is not happy at the club as he is getting limited time to play and is not fitting in Zidane’s plan.
There are also speculations that James Rodriguez could be used as a part of swap deal for Hazard. Current Italy national team coach, Antonio Conte is taking charge of Chelsea from the next season and he likes to field the team in a 3-5-2 formation in which the wingbacks have a major role to play. Rodriguez superbly fits the profile and also can operate from down the middle. Not only that, Diego Costa could also leave Chelsea after this summer and could reunite with his former club Atletico Madrid.
