Global motorcycle major Ducati has brought its 1299Superleggera to India and it looks like a winner from the word gowith a single caveat- it costs an astonishing Rs. 1.12 crores. This is Ducati’s first ever motorcycle made ofcarbon fibrewhich makes it lighter but structurally stronger any other Ducati motorcycle on sale. The motorcycle has made it to the record books by being the most expensive bike available in India currently. The new carbon fibre construction will make the motorcycle 1.7 kg lighter than its non-carbon fibre cousin. The new Ducati 1299Superleggera will get an all-new monocoque frame with a newsubframe, swingarm, wheels and fairings, making it more streamlined.
Ducati 1299Superleggera Specs and Features
TheDucati 1299Superleggera is powered by a 1285 cc liquid cooled, L-twin cylinder Superquadro engine which produces a maximum power output of 215 HP at 11,000 rpm and a torque of146.5 Nm at 9,000 rpm. This throaty engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox with the proprietary Ducati QuickShifter. The gross weight of the motorcycle has been limited to a very respectable 167 kg. The aluminium petrol tank also adds to the lowered weight.Mitsubishi electronic fuel injection system is featured on the bike. The front wheel and tyre combination is the10-spoke full carbon fibre 17-inch with Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa tyre. The braking is beautifully covered by twin 330mm discs with four-pot Brembo M50 monobloc callipers at the front and another 245mm disc in the rear. The rear brake is also made more capable with the addition of a 2-piston calliper with cornering ABS. Safety features on the Ducati 1299 Superleggera includethe Bosch Cornering ABS system, Ducati Slide Control, Ducati Power Launch topped by the proprietary Ducati Traction Control. A colour TFT display completes the instrumentation panel. The new bike will feature theDucati Data Analyser+ data capture system.

The Ducati 1299 Superleggera will be a limited edition motorcycle with only 500 units to be made in total. As we mentioned previously, the new bike will be the costliest two-wheeler in India at Rs. 1.12 crores. The new Ducati will come with an option of shipping with its ownTrack Kit, which includes a Titanium racing exhaust, racing windshield, side-stand removal kit, license plate mount removal plug and front and rear paddock stands with a paddock bike cover.
