
The fans of the superstar Rajinikanth pleaded him urging to enter the politics and to “take over the reins of Tamil Nadu which is without a leader”. Over thousand fans from the three district of Tamil Nadu, Karur, Kanyakumari, and Dindigul gathered at the Raghavendra Mandapam at Kodambakkam to see the glimpses of the Superstar after almost eight years.
Raising slogans for their god, the star fan;s marched outside the venue which was under tight security of Police. This was a part of the five-day interaction of the star with the fans. Rajnikanth gave a 16-minutes speech and whenever there was a mention of him entering politics, the fans were seen applauding and dancing in rejoice. However, there was no clear mention of will or will not Rajini may join the Politics.
Rajini Ramesh a 48-year-old fan of Rajinikanth follow the superstar since the release of ‘Bairavi’ in 1978. He belongs to the KK Nagar unit of the star’s fan association. He said, “Thalaivar (leader) will stand for the people. He will enter politics in three to six months.” When questioned whether Rajini would seek support from other political parties Ramesh said, “Superstar will arrive alone like a lion. Some parties have been seeking his support but he will stand alone and serve.”
The fans also quoted that if he would have stood alone, Rajini would have become Chief Minister in 1996 itself. Another fan S Kumar said, “Instead of sitting in the CM chair, he gave it away.”
The actor during his speech asked his fans to quit smoking and drinking to which many fans gave a welcome nod. Basha’ Mani, 38, said, “I am addicted to alcohol. But I have decided to give it up after hearing what superstar said.”
