A few months ago, a ‘willowy brunette’ was seen dining with tennis star Novak Djokovic, and while the paparazzi was quick to recognise the tennis star, no one in the US could identify the beauty accompanying him, not right away at least. Well, gone are those days when Deepika Padukone was not a household name among movie fans in the West. In fact, the leggy lass seems to be the new Priyanka Chopra of Hollywood.
Deepika is currently on a mission to conquer the world. The Belle of Bollywood is quite literally being hailed as the Next Generation of Hollywood. Just ask the guys at Vanity Fair to find out. The magazine did a shoot with a handful of promising stars some among whom were Riley Keough from Mad Max; Fury Road, Lily Collins from the Snow White adaptation Mirror, Mirror, Elizabeth Debicki from The Great Gatsby, and surely enough, our very own Deepika. The Bangalore beauty has shot to worldwide fame following her high profile Hollywood debut with the upcoming film, Vin Diesel’s xXx: The Return of Xander Cage.
The shoot saw her disembarking from a vehicle in a flaming red Gucci outfit, looking super stunning and sophisticated. The photo was followed by a round of questionnaire that offered tidbits of information about Deepika which state her preferences between Vinyl and Mp3, her love for chocolate cake and her style icon (the last one she lovingly bestowed on her mother). The feature even had video shoot in which Deepika stated clearly her fashion choices. Fans are going wow everywhere over her poise and confidence in the Vanity Fair feature.
But global domination does not begin and end with Hollywood. Back home, Deepika has currently bagged the title of Bollywood’s highest paid actress. According to reports, the actress is being paid over Rs. 12 crores for her role in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s upcoming film Padmavati, replacing another Bolly fave, Kangana Ranaut from the position of the highest paid actress in Bollywood. But there’s more, this paycheck will also mark the first time an amount exceeding Rs.10 crores has been handed to an actress in the industry. Many are seeing the present times as the best time for women in Bollywood.
