Dead Island 2 Release Date: We assumed that the next instalment of Dead Island would take a long time in making. It looks like we are right. But now it seems like the process is taking longer than expected. Deep Silver on Thursday announced that its open-world zombie game Dead Island 2 launch date has been delayed to 2017.
Dead Island 2 is the sequel to the zombie survival game was announced during PlayStation’s press conference at the Electronic Entertainment Expo in 2014. It was expected to be released on PS4, Xbox One and PC in Spring 2015. But after several months of anticipation, now the Dead Island 2 release date has been postponed to 2017.
@NickCutrone22 We’ll have more information on Dead Island 2 at a later stage, but we’re still working on it 🙂

The reason behind the delay is Deep Silver wants to make a game that’s true to their vision. Pushing the open-world zombie game to next year will help the game realise its full potential. “We have always set ourselves a big goal for Dead Island 2: to create the sequel that takes Dead Island to the next level. A game that takes what our fans tell us they love about Dead Island–multiple different characters to play with, co-op, and turning a paradise setting into a zombie slaughter melee–and a game that adds a ton more content and combat options on top of that,” the studio said on Twitter.
Speaking on the delay, the studio said: “And we wanted to have all of that that done for release in spring 2015. We have been looking at the game long and hard, and we have decided we didn’t reach that goal we set out to achieve quite yet. This is why we have decided to delay Dead Island 2 to 2016.”
Currently, the studio is focusing entirely on the development of the game, and they promise to keep fans updated from time to time.
Back in July 2015, Deep Silver had announced that Yager would no longer be working on Dead Island 2, and the game will be passed on to another developer, according to Eurogamer. The project is now being handled by Sumo Digital, who is also developing Microsoft Studios’ Crackdown 3. Deep Silver later came out to assure their fans that Dead Island 2 is not killed off and that they are still busy working on the game. It’s likely that this might be the reason Dead Island 2 release date is being delayed to 2017.
UPDATE: The much hyped Dead Island is all set to release its sequel to its famous part one which got released in 2011. Titled as Dead Island 2, it is being developed by Yager Developments to which the franchise now will be located in California. In the upcoming game, the players will be struck in the midst of the spreading zombie outbreak.
