Nevertheless, Sanjay Nirupam (Mumbai Congress President) also went a step ahead to write a letter to J.S. Saharia (State Election Commissioner) where he mentioned “The state government has granted the organisers 75 per cent concession on the rent for the MMRDA Ground, Bandra East, and waived off entertainment tax for the event. This is a waste of public money and such concessions are not granted to other organisations,”.

Congress also said that no political leader should be present on The Global Citizen festival’s stage. Nevertheless, Nawab Malik (spokesperson of NCP) expressed his agitation regarding Coldplay’s concert to the media by saying “Farmers are committing suicide here, there are issues of unemployment and other matters. Amid all this, they are bringing Coldplay — for what? Will this (Coldplay) concert remove unemployment like the Michael Jackson show?”

However, apart from Coldplay The Global Citizen festival will also include international rapper Jay z’s performance. Ans eminent celebrities such as A.R. Rahman, Ranveer Singh, Malaika Arora Khan, Farhan Akhtar, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Amitabh Bachchan Shah Rukh Khan and so on will be a part of the concert.

However, Coldplay will be performing for the first time in India. Therefore, the concert tickets were sold like hot cakes on BookMyShow. Nevertheless, the scheduled date for the Global Citizen festival is on November 19.
