On the back of a 2-1 defeat to Liverpool at home, Chelsea will be heading to the King Power Stadium in Leicester where they will face the foxes in a third-round clash of the EFL Cup. This will be the first time these two teams will face off this season and also the first time Antonio Conte will face Claudio Ranieri in the dugout. Chelsea have only kept one clean sheet away from home since February – and that came in a 4-0 win at Aston Villa. The Blues have a good record in the EFL Cup, having won it six times in the last 20 years. The Foxes also had a period of success in England’s second domestic trophy, having won two out of three finals between 1996 and 2000.
- Leicester have scored exactly two goals in seven of their past nine home games against Chelsea in all competitions.
- These two sides last met in the League Cup in October 2007. Chelsea won 4-3 at Stamford Bridge on their way to the final.
- The two sides contested the 1965 League Cup final. Chelsea emerged victorious again, winning 3-2 over two legs.
- The Foxes have failed to keep a clean sheet in any of their past eight home games in the League Cup.
