Borderlands 3, GTA 6 may release in 2019; Fallout 5 not far behind

Borderlands 3

The hype surrounding the next possible titles from the Borderlands, GTA, and Fallout series is nearly deafening. Sadly for fans of any of these games, no substantial news about their possible release dates exists. In fact, none of their high-profile developers has even confirmed the existence of the upcoming games in their particular series. However, rumour has it that Borderlands 3, GTA 6, and Fallout 5, are all already in production.

Borderlands 3 Release Date

There’s a lot of confusing information out there about Borderlands 3 which do not shed any light on whether the upcoming third instalment in the Borderlands series is even in development. Many even are of the opinion that the next Borderlands game may not happen at all, considering the fact that it has been around five years since the last game in the series, Borderlands 2, came out. Not that there is a fixed timeline that Gearbox Studios follows with the games (there have only been two instalments yet, giving us only the singular instance of the difference between the two to refer to), but fans expected to hear something concrete by 2016. But the developers are not ditching Borderlands 3 that easily, and have been merely taking a break to rethink ideas for the upcoming game. Moreover, Gearbox CEORandy Pitchford hadconfirmed earlier this year that Borderlands 3 will happen, and that the studio was already considering several ideas for the upcoming game. If that is indeed the case, then we may surmise that Borderlands 3 is already in development and it may take the game around three years to complete production (Borderlands 2 came out in 2012 three years after the original Borderlands).

Taking all these into account, we think Borderlands 3 will be launched around October 2019. A 2018 release may also be possible.

GTA 6 Release Date

The game from Rockstar that the whole worldis excited about is currently steeped in speculation. It is no secret that GTA is a series that will be continued; Rockstar’s parent company Take-Two Interactive themselves said it during an investors’ meet this year, so we know that GTA 6 will definitely happen. We also know that Rockstar has already been brainstorming ideas for the upcoming game’s location, and officials had even travelled to Tokyo to check out if it was possible to locate the game there (they later cancelled the idea citing the unsuitable nature of the roads in Tokyo for the game). In fact, it seems that location will be the biggest talking point of GTA 6 when it ultimately releases, with rumours suggesting everything from foreign locations to the whole of the USA being included as the game’s map.But the one major question that remains yet unanswered is: when will GTA 6 release?

This one is tough to say. Earlier it was speculated that the new open world racing game from Rockstar is already in development and will be released by 2018. But considering the fact that the creators only recently unveiled their upcoming game, Red Dead Redemption 2 (another huge title from the devs) which is slated for a late 2017 release, we are not sure if the work done on GTA 6 until now will be put on hold to concentrate on the other title.

However, many reports suggest that GTA 6 will be made available for and be released alongside the next generation of consoles, which are rumoured to surface sometime between 2019 and 2020. But Rockstar usually follows a release window of four to five years in between its main releases in the GTA series. The developer also has a reputation to adhere to this window with the games in their other reputed series: Red Dead Redemption 2 was announced six years after its predecessor, which was also spaced similarly from Red Dead Revolver, theseries header.

It appears that GTA 6 may release, or at least be announced by 2018. The release itself may also happen in 2019. That would give the developers ample time to complete all their work on RDR 2 (including post-release business) and fine tune the elements in the upcoming game.

Fallout 5 Release Date

Every Fallout fan knows about the accidental confirmation about Fallout 5’s existence that was made by a source very close to the series earlier this year. For the uninitiated,Ryan Alosio, the voice actor behind companion character Deacon, wrote a post on social media that confirmed that development of the game had already commenced. Alosio took the post down soon after and Bethesda refused to comment on the matter, but the damage had already been done.

Based on this alone we are tempted to say that the wait for Fallout 5 won’t be long, but there’s more. Speaking about Bethesda‘s other upcoming title, The Elder Scrolls 6, the game’s designer Todd Howards said that the studio was presently busy with three major projects. Though Howards later went back on his words, it is a great possibility that one of these titles is indeed Fallout 5.

Considering that Fallout 5 may have been in production since early 2016, we suppose it is safe to say that the upcoming game will land on our consoles sometime within the next four years. This gives Fallout 5 a possible release date of 2020. However, the creators had only announced Fallout 4 in the year of its release, so it may be possible that we will not hear anything about Fallout 5 until we arrive at the year of its launch.

In conclusion, the next few years will see quite a few explosive releases in some of the most popular series in existence. Apart from Borderlands 3, GTA 6, and Fallout 5, other big launches like Red Dead Redemption 2 and Resident Evil 7: Biohazard will be sure to keep gamers hooked for the near future. However, we expect to hear more about the three games covered in this article soon, either from their makers themselves or in the forms of credible leaks, now that they are all in production. We will be sure update as soon as we hear anything.
