BMW is teaming up with Mobileye and Intel to bring new technology that can be proved revolutionary for the auto industry. Yes, BMW is taking a big leap by thinking of introducing a fully self-driving car and for that, they are teaming up with Intel and Mobileye. The project highlights a shift in the dynamics of research and development with the US computer chip giant Intel and the Israeli technology firm Mobileye to develop self-driving cars. The aim of this project is to make the role of the drivers less crucial and tiresome where they will get the benefit of taking their hands off the steering wheel and also could take their eyes off the road and ultimately their mind off driving if needed. The final stage of this project is to make the car “driver off”, which means it will be in the “autopilot” mode without the need of a human driver.
MobiliyeLtd shared this on their FB Page-
Even in Twitter they shared the same thing-

Directors of BMW are highly ambitious about this project and marketing head of BMW shared his view on this regard-
But this highly ambitious project is facing some hindrance and criticism as US electric car company Tesla said it took a driver’s life in Florida in May while using the “autopilot” self-driving mode in one of their models. BMW CEO Harald Krueger’s reply about the crash was apt and clear. He said the death is sad but it is due to the reason of the technology that is not fully flourished yet, and thus they are taking a span of 5 years to make it perfect because “For the BMW group, safety comes first.”

Mobileye will supply its Road Experience Management (REM) technology to make its latest EyeQ5 chip that will be available to be used on Intel computing platforms. No doubt this collaboration can bring a revolutionary change in the automobile industry, but they have to keep in mind the fact that roads are not always as smooth to depend on entirely on some technology. The bends, curves and uneven roads are very common features that the companies need to keep in mind for the safety of the passengers.
