Bengal Assembly Elections

The fights that are being considered as the biggest ones and the most important ones start today (21. 04. 2016). Like the other phases of the election which have already been conducted before, this phase is also being conducted under high rate of violence at almost every place. Reports of death and injury are popping up since the morning. The places where the competition is the toughest undoubtedly include Murshidabad, Farakka, Jangipur, Jamalpur, Monteswar, Tamluk, etc.

The place where the biggest competition is expected is the den of Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, Murshidabad. The new ally of Congress and CPI(M) are expected to give tough fight to the ruling party. However, there have reports of violence and even death at Domkal, Murshidabad. A CPI(M) polling agent named Tahidul Islam has been killed brutally. The TMC local workers allegedly killed the polling agent right inside the polling booth itself. The voters are also not being sppared. Two voters have been shot and many others are injured due to the bomb hurling. Voting is West Bengal seems to be no more just a day when people go out to press a button on the EVM. The days of election have turned out to be days of war when people tremble with fear. The most interesting part is that the fear is imparted into the minds of the people by the goons. People literally fear even to step out of the houses.

Cry of children and women, fear of people and all other sorts of fears. The main point of anger of the people is that the Election Commission along with the Central Force is nothing but mute spectators to the whole scenario. At places the presence of the Central Force can hardly be noticed. There are allegations of huge negligence against the Election Commission.

Apart from this reports of violence are also coming from places like Burdwan, Kalyani and other places. At Burdwan the TMC workers are found with pistols in and around the polling area. Here is an image tweeted by ANI on the same.

While reports of other acts of violence coming from Ketugram include mutilating ear of a CPI(M) worker in return of which a TMC worker’s leg was broken. The most shocking thing is that within three hours 875 complaints have been lodged which is quite alarming and shows the very reason behind the fear of people. Now coming to other places, a bag full of bombs have been recovered near the polling booth at Kalyani. Workers of both TMC and CPI(M) have been detained for hurling bombs.

If we keep an eye at the heart of Kolkata, voters of Beleghata area have been threatened. Apart from this violence is prevailing at the Jorasanko area. Well! This phase seems to be the bloodiest one of all the phases till now. Still the main powers which are Trinamool Congress and the ally of CPI(M) and Congress are hopeful about positivity.
