
‘Baahubali: The Beginning’ has been selected for screening in the Indian Panorama – Feature Films Category for IFFI (International Film Festival of India)2016, which will be held in Goa between November 20-28. This is probably the latest feather in the hat for this record-breaking blockbuster, which, amongst other achievements, became the third highest grossing film in the world last year after its global release in various languages in 2015.‘Ishti’, a film in Sanskrit, will open the eight-day mega festival, showcasing India’s ancient language and its heritage to the world in the Indian Panorama category of IFFI 2016.
The international celluloid extravaganza, organised under the aegis of the ministry for Information and Broadcasting (I&B) every year, enters its 47th year in 2016. The organisers of the 47th IIFIhave recently announced the list of Indian Panorama – Feature Films Category. “The Jury of Feature Films, headed by well-known Director and Producer, Shri Rajendra Singh Babu, has selected 22 films out of 230 eligible entries. The 13 Members Jury took a month to finalize the selections,” reads the statement released by the organisers.
Apart from this, the festival will also have a special section to showcase award-winning short films based on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiative ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’. The short films were awarded at the Swachh Bharat Film Festival, organised and curated by National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) on the behalf of Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, recently.
The list of Feature Films of Indian Panorama section includes 3 films each from Malayalam and Kannada, 4 movies each from Marathi, Hindi and Bengali and 1 flick each from Manipuri, Assamese, Konkani, Sanskrit, Tamil, Telugu, English and Khasi.
