Apple kickstarted their launch event at San Fransisco earlier today with the new Apple Music app which overhauls the interface while adding music discoveries, recommendations and lyrics to the service. The music-streaming service which was announced on June 8 2015, has already raked in 17 million subscribers to their name and this number will surely take a huge leap now with the new features which the company is incorporating in the service.
“There’s a great new simple and intuitive design in iOS 10.”
-Tim Cook, CEO, Apple Inc.
The main USP of the Apple Music is its exclusive contents. In August, Frank Ocean made his much-awaited album ‘Blonde’ an Apple Music exclusive; which is still unavailable on the leading music-streaming service as of now, Spotify.
Lyrics are the headline feature giving streamers a sleek way to read lyrics in sync with the music. There’s also new ways for users to find music users can enjoy based on previous listening habits, similar to what Spotify offers. The interface is also a comparatively better upgrade with the new interface much pleasant to the eyes with bold typefaces.
Apple Music is still trailing to Spotify, which is the leading music streaming service today with 30 million subscribers to their name but we can expect that to change soon sometime in the feature, especially with Apple gearing up to pose as a serious contender to Spotify.
Cook also mentioned the emphasis on exclusive releases on the service, name-dropping popular pop singers Taylor Swift and Drake.
