The smartphone that will mark Apple’s 10th anniversary of iPhone is expected to come with a lot of new features including a new design. The iPhone 8 though is expected to come with a steep price tag as well. Along with the iPhone 8, Apple is also expected to release iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus, which will come with relatively lower price tags. There has been a lot of discussion over the pricing of the iPhone 8 and in the past, we have seen multiple analysts suggest the price for the upcoming device. While the exact amount has often varied, the one constant every analyst has maintained is that the smartphone will priced premium and will retail over $1000 (approx. Rs 65,000) for the 128GB variant. However, as per the latest predictions by UBS analyst Steven Milunovich, the iPhone 8 will not be priced as high as expected, and that the base variant will start at a much lower price. According to Milunovich, the base variant of iPhone 8 will be priced at $870 (approx. Rs 56,400) and the prices will then go higher. The internal storage of the base variant remains unknown, though it is likely to start with 64GB. There will be just one variant in the over $1000 price-point and that will come with 256GB internal storage option along with a price of $1070 (approximately Rs 69,300). The report was first shared by Business Insider.Apart from the pricing, the report also shared that iPhone 8 will account for nearly 45 percent of Apple iPhone sales for this year, meaning iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus will capture just a small market share. The prediction is not surprising as Tim Cook has himself, on occasion mentioned that expectations from Apple regarding the iPhone 8 are high and iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus sales have already suffered owing to the expectations and wait for iPhone 8.Previously, a Goldman Sachs analyst Simona Jankowski predicted that iPhone 8 would come priced at $999 (approx. Rs 64,800) for the 128GB variant. The prediction pegs the base version at 128GB instead of 64GB. The higher end 256GB variant will be priced at $1,099 (approx. Rs 71,000). While the upper end predictions between the two are in the same price-range, the base variant predictions might vary owing to the difference in the internal storage. There has been no word on pricing for iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus.Apart from the pricing, we’ve also seen leaks with regards to the specifications. Apple iPhone 8 will reportedly come with a completely new design and look. The phone will do away with the physical home button with no TouchID even on the back. Instead, Apple will use what is known as Micro-LED display to embed the fingerprint scanner in the bottom half of the display. The smartphone, initially believed to be bezel-free will instead come with curved edges and slim bezels. Apple will retain the dual rear camera set-up but it will be vertical, adding additional features like 3D imaging.Apple is expected to announce iPhone 8, iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus (along with iPhone SE 2017, some suggest) in September. However, the company has run into production glitches and the timeline is believed to be pushed back. Over 56 Apple patents recently received the go from the US patent office and most of the patents are related to rumors surrounding Apple iPhone 8..
