Only a few days ago, we covered how the iPhone 7 is likely to release the week of September 12, a surprising rumour has come up ahead of the handset’s launch. New reports have suggested that the upcoming Apple iPhone 7 could actually be called iPhone 6SE.
The rumour emerged after aChinese supply chain sources claimed to have seen packaging and labelling bearing that name,iPhone 6SE. This is the first rumour regarding the change of name but we’ve heardearlier that the upcoming iPhone will feature a similar designed processor. In the past few weeks, a couple of videos showing ‘dummy’ iPhone 7 had emerged online that showed a similarity between the handsets. We should’ve guessed it back then.
The dummy models were produced by third-party manufacturers butwere based on Apple’s design specifications. It’s worth noting that all dummies featurednewly curved antenna lines, larger cameras, and no headphone jack. And since they look so similar to 6S, changing the name to 6SE isn’t that strange.
As for now, we have no official confirmation, no clue as to what Apple is planning for the upcoming iPhone. And all we can do is speculate. There are also reports that a larger ‘Pro’ model could be launched alongside the usual standard and Plus version. And we are still unsure if the handset will stop supporting the regular 3.5mm headphone jack. Some believe that the latest iPhone will feature a wireless lightening ear pods.
The world famous online tipsterEvan Blass claims that the iPhone 7 will launch on the week of September 12, but sinceiPhone 6S hit the stores on September 25, the iPhone 6 on September 19, the release date of iPhone 7/iPhone 6SE will probably beslightly earlier than usual.
Just to clarify, this refers to the retail release, not the launch event. To be even more specific, it should happen on Friday, Sept. 16th.
