Thanksgiving day has brought good news for every person who had been eagerly waiting for the upcoming science-fiction horror film Alien Covenant as the movie is slated to be released three months ahead of its original schedule. Directed by Ridley Scott and written by Michael Green, the movie is the sequel to the 2012 film Prometheus, the second instalment in the Alien prequel series and sixth installment overall in the Alien film series.
20th Century Fox unveiled the movie’s first official poster and in it were hints that the movie may hit the big screens a lot sooner than originally expected. This poster reveals everything about the film. It even included a creepy tagline that says “RUN.” However, the most important piece of information regarding this upcoming science fiction flick is still that it’s preponed release date. Alien Covenant was originally pegged for an October 6, 2017, release date which was further amended to August 2017. But as per the latest poster, the movie will hit the big screens on May 19, 2017, which makes the release date shift 5 months prior to what was originally decided by the movie studios.
The “Alien Covenant” poster shows a Xenomorph at the centre, big and menacing. Upon seeing this image, people will recall the fear wrought by the original monsters of the “Alien” franchise. This latest instalment in the already much-watched movie series will star Michael Fassbender, Noomi Rapace, and Guy Pearce, returning in their roles from Prometheus, with newcomers Katherine Waterston, Danny McBride, Demián Bichir, and Billy Crudup.
The Plot Synopsis For Alien Covenant Reads
Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant find what they believe to be an uncharted paradise. What the crew discover is a dark, dangerous world, whose sole inhabitant is the “synthetic” David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.
The shift in the release date of the movie has also opened up to the chances of possible box office clashes with other much-awaited movies which are slated to release around the same time frame. Alien Covenant will share screen time in the big screens with Warner Brother’s horror flick ‘Annabelle 2’, as well as Paramount pictures much awaited movie adaptation of popular TV series ‘Baywatch’ which features quite an impressive cast ensemble with the likes of Dwayne Johnson, Zac Efron and Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra. Though the science fiction movie will definitely have its fair share of takers who are into the particular genre of science fiction movies, it will still be an interesting battle to witness in terms of how the movie fares at the Box office.
Alien Covenant does promise a decent scare fest and it seems that eagerly waiting fans have been handed a thanksgiving gift from 20th Century Fox in the form of a preponed release date of the movie. May isn’t a really long wait and while you lie in wait for the movie, keep an eye out for the Alien Covenant teasers which are due to be out soon enough.
