Udta Punjab, the upcoming Abhishek Chaubey directed movie that deals with Punjab’s notorious issue with drugs is grabbing the highlights almost every other day. The film is co-produced by Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji Motion Pictures, and the Vikas Bahl-Anurag Kashyap led Phantom films, the current update from this upcoming movie is the character of Alia Bhatt is revealed. She will be presented as a rape victim in Udta Punjab, and also a drug addicted.  It seems her haunting look is part of her horrifying experience. No doubt the character will be a strong one. Alia coloured the character of an innocent girl who had dreams to become a hockey player, but her fate was designed by some drug mafia. She abused and tormented and is a Bihari migrant with almost no financial background. Her rugged oversized dress and de-glam makeup and body language reflect upon her character. Though her dressing created controversy regarding stereotyping the ‘Biharies’. The social media targeted her though the issue lost attention within no time.

The bubbly star is known for her ‘bindass’ roles in movies like ‘Student of the Year’, ‘2 States’, ‘Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania’, ‘Kapoor and Sons’. So her character in this film will be a refreshing one, with a lot of scope of excellent acting.

Udta Punjab is already in hype due to its contemporary subject and fresh look. But it is also grabbing attention for a refreshing star cast. After their bitter break up Kareena and Shahid will be seen sharing the screen after their last release ‘Jab we met’. In this movie, Shahid will be seen as a drug addicted rockstar and Kareena as a dutiful doctor fighting hard to stop the drug business and rescue the innocent victims of it. The movie will be released on release on June 17th, wait till then to see how they do ‘drugs di, maa di’.
