Akshay Kumar donates Rs. 50 lakhs to help the poor farmers in their destitute condition. It is not the first time that Akshay Kumar is helping the people in need. This year Maharashtra has seen one of the worst dry conditions and the poor farmers are not in a position to start farming.
The situation is so scary that even drinking water is scanty. Around 7,723 villages have been declared drought-hit, and 54 out of the 75 medium dams have been declared dry. The government is taking measures, but that is not enough. Now many Bollywood stars are coming to help them. The first name is indeed Nana Patekar, who came forward to help the farmers and now the news of Akshay Kumar is all over the media that he has donated 50 lakhs Jalyukt Shiva Abhiyaan, which is an initiative by the Maharashtra government that is introducing harvesting techniques and construction of ponds.
It is of course not the first time Akshay is donating money for a serious reason. Mr Khilari is well known for his philanthropy in the industry. He had donated 90 lakhs before to 180 farmers’ family who was on the verge of committing suicide.
The drought condition is so critical that no one can avoid their responsibilities. And when there is a question of responsibility Bollywood comes is always an industry you can count on. Aamir Khan with the NGO ‘Paani Foundation’ visited two villages in Beed, Maharashtra.
Akshay has recently finished shooting for Rustom.
