The India vs Australia Test match series might be well over. But the verbal jibes are not yet over, and the latest addition to the list is Mitchell Johnson. The former Australian pacer has made some remarks, which is bound to give rise to a number of new controversies for it once again concerns the current Indian captain Virat Kohli.
The latest controversy will surely renew the rivalry between Virat Kohli and Mitchell Johnson that had hogged the limelight in the past. And the recent jibe will surely make things interesting setting up a nice battle in the Indian Premier League when Mumbai Indians meet Royal Challengers Bengaluru. In a recent tweet, Mitchell Johnson stated that Rahane should be retained as the captain of the Indian side instead of Virat Kohli. To quote him, “Rahane should stay captain! It was a tough series, but I believe it should stay on the field with the players.”
Controversy has been on the rise since the beginning of the recently concluded India vs Australia test match series. It all started with the ‘Brain-fade’ moment that Virat Kohli condemned as something that is not acceptable on the cricket field. Following that, the Australian media equated Virat Kohli’s attitude with that of American President Donald Trump. That was not all. James Sutherland, Chief Executive Officer of Cricket Australia, took a bigger dig at Virat Kohli saying that the Indian captain perhaps did not know the spelling of ‘Sorry’.
After that, Virat Kohli’s comment that the Australians are no more his friends is bound to make things even worse probably. And this comment from Mitchell Johnson might just be one of a kind of a backlash. But it remains to be seen where this whole thing ends. It will surely not because with the Indian Premier League coming up and a number of Australian players scheduled to be a part of the tournament, things are expected to get intense. It will definitely be interesting to watch out but as long as it stays within the spirit of the game.
