The Indian Air Force (IAF) has finally announced the AFCAT 2017 examination dates. The Air Force Common Admission Test will be conducted in February 2017 for which online application has already started from 3rd December 2016 and will go on until 29th December 2016. We are sharing some important information for the interested candidates of the AFCAT examination.
The Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) is conducted by the Indian Air Force twice, generally in February and September. The exam is conducted every year for the selection of Officers in various branches of the force.

AFCAT 2017: Eligibility Criteria
Flying Branch
Education: Graduation (min 3 years) from any government-affiliated institution with min 60% marks and have passed. Maths and Physics subject at 10+2 level is necessary or B.E/ B.Tech from a recognised University with min 60% marks.
Age Limit: 20 to 24 years as on 01.01.2018 (born between 02.01.1994 to 01.01.1998 including both dates). The upper age limit for candidates holding valid and Current Commercial Pilot License issued by DGCA (India) is relaxed up to 26 years i.e. born between 02.01.1992 to 01.01.1998 (both dates inclusive).
Min Height: 162.5 cms with correlated weight
Min Vision: 6/6 in one eye and 6/9 in other
Technical Branch
Education: Four-year degree qualification and have cleared Sections A and B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India with 60% marks
Age Limit: 20 to 26 years on 01.01.2018 (born between 02.01.1992 to 01.01.1998 including both dates)
Min Height: 157.5 cms with correlated weight, women – 152 cms
Ground Duty Branch
Education: Graduate degree with minimum 3 years from any discipline with minimum 60% marks or equivalent or cleared Section A and B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India with a min of 60% marks or equivalent. For Administration and Logistics posts.
B.Com (Min 3 years) with min 60% marks for Accounts posts
MBA / MCA or MA / M Sc degree in English / Physics / Mathematics / Chemistry / Statistics / International relations / International studies / Defence studies / Psychology / Computer Science / IT / Management / Mass Communication / Journalism / Public Relation with minimum of 50% marks in aggregate all paper put together in Post Graduation with minimum two year programme and 60% marks in graduation for Education posts.
Age Limit: 20 to 26 years on 01.01.2018 (born between 02.01.1992 to 01.01.1998 including both dates)
AFCAT 2017: Selection Process
AFCAT 2017 will go through a serious process to choose the candidates. The two set of examination includes Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) and Engineering Knowledge Test (EKT – only for the Technical branch).
- AFSB Interview
- Screening test
- Psychological test, Group Test, Medical Test and Interview
- CPSS (Computerized Pilot Selection System) and/ or PABT only for Flying branch
AFCAT 2017: How to Apply for the Exam
Eligible and interested candidates can now apply online on the website careerairforce.nic.in or by following the steps given below
- Click on ‘New Registration’ link below
- Fill in your details in the Registration form and Submit
- A User ID and password will be sent to your email.
- Use the User ID and password to login by using the ‘Login to Apply Online’ link below
- Fill in your application form, Upload recent colour passport size photograph, signature and thumb impression
- Complete the application and Take a print out
- On successful completion of Application, candidates will receive Registration ID in their email
AFCAT 2017: Important Information
- Final year students can also apply for AFCAT 2017 Exam given that they have secured 60% marks in aggregate and must be able to provide provisional or original degree certificate before commencing the training.
- AFCAT does not allow you to edit or change any details in your application once it is submitted. No further changes would be allowed after final submission of the form.
- You cannot fill duplicate application with the same details (Name/ Email) as it will lead to rejection
