Mike Maccahil from The Guardian gave the film 2/5 saying “Despite controversy over the casting, Karan Johar’s romance, pairing drippy Ranbir Kapoor with spiky Anushka Sharma, has a failure of nerve about Hindu-Muslim relations.”
