Access to Porn Sites Blocked on Patna Railway Station’s Free Wi-Fi

The shocking news of Patna Railway station topping in terms of porn video search on the free Wi-Fi created quite a lot of buzz among everyone. And now the authorities have blocked the access to porn sites at the railway station on its free Wi-Fi. However, this step was taken by the authorities ten days after IANS reported that people mostly search for porn videos at the Patna Railway station.

IANS also reported about the statement given by the East Central Railway’s Chief Public Relations Officer Arvind Razak on Wednesday as he stated: “We have acted after it was found that free Wi-Fi service was used for opening porn sites at Patna railway station and also in view of reports of last week”. He also added that the matter was taken seriously by the higher authorities of the railway. However, Razak concluded his statement saying“Initially, we have blocked selected porn sites, and gradually all such sites will be blocked at the railway station”.

The news comes as a shock to many of them as Patna Railway Station is the very first station in the Bihar state to acquire free Wi-Fi service. And around 23 railway stations in India has been introduced to the free Wi-Fi service. However, it has been declared by the Center that all the noteworthy railway stations of the country will enjoy the benefits of free Wi-Fi service within three years.

However, the Wi-Fi service at the railway stations is provided by Railwire which is the retail broadband distribution model of RailTel.

This scenario might urge the railway authorities to take strict actions regarding the access of websites on the free Wi-Fi service of the railway stations in the future. It can be anticipated thatthey might block all the adult sites from beforehand. Nevertheless, such strict action will undoubtedly aware the people from now on.
