Bollywood actor Aamir Khan has set up Paani Foundation. And today,the second edition of Satyamev Jayate Water Cup was announced by thisBollywood superstar. The one and only aim and objective of this Satyamev Jayate Water Cup isto extend the watershed management program30 tehsils in Maharashtra. However, in the first edition ofSatyamev Jayate Water Cup, the water conservative initiativehad been implemented in three tehsils. To say honestly, this Cup is a kind of competition between various villages in order to see who cangive the best in workingmaximum for water conservation as well as water management in the particular period of competition.In the first edition, the competition period of the Cup wasbetween the time of span of April 20 to June 5, 2016.
In the competition, 116 villages took part as informed by the foundation. This was done in order to make the villages a complete water-sufficient place so that the villagers do not suffer from any water-related problem. In the first edition ofSatyamev Jayate Water Cup, the total water storage created by all the competing villages was13,68,000 litres of water. And we have the actor himself saying the below-mentioned words, “The first edition of water cup was a pilot project and with its success, we now want to extend the watershed management programme to 30 more talukas in Maharashtra to make the villages water-sufficient with people’s participation.”Along with Satyajit Bhatkal, the CEO of the organization, Aamir presented the entire plan of the Cup’s second edition.
