Karnataka-based gaming app 99Games has raised an undisclosed amount of fund through the help of Japanese investment firm Dream Incubator in a Series C funding. The fundraising event witnessed other existing investors like Kalaari Capital, Ascent Capital and so on. Making a debut in India via investing in handset based gaming forum, the Japanese firm comes with a vision to expand it’s market in other startups too.
The fund will be used in business expansion and launch of women-centric games hence focusing women target audiences aged from 20 to 55 year old. It will further be used in developing new games so as to acquire the public interest thus ending up in being best way to spend leisure time. Already focusing on movie games like Fan The Game, Dhoom 3 The Game, Sultan The Game, along with several culinary games, word games, number games, etc. launch of fashion based games will help in attracting women audience more in number.
According to Rohit Bhat, Founder of 99Games, stated that the deployed funds will completely be used in introducing new games specifically women oriented as two new games will entirely engage them to lay out time. The first game, which will soon be launched within three months, be a puzzle strategy game focused on cooking whereas second one to be introduced later this year may focus in fashion label or branding puzzle games.
However, the new games to be introduced soon will come with a minimal time-span of 10 years and maximum to the user’s limit. Supported by Karnataka based startup Robosoft technologies Pvt. Ltd., started in 2015 in Udupi, 99Games have come a long way at a short span of time. Introduced with best known game Star Chef, the following has already been downloaded 1.5 million times with its active users belonging to US, UK, Taiwan, Japan, and of course India.
After series of fundraising events, Robosoft Technologies led 99Games plans to build itself in niche markets like Europe and Middle East too. Moreover, mobile gaming getting hike over the years, it manages to attract consumers due to its hassle free downloads with no or minimal cost. Apart from 99Games, other gaming startup have started expanding itself through various funding thus capturing the gaming market at a full fledged manner in India.
