Version 9.0 of the Unicode Standard was released, and it contains72 new emojis.Faces, hand gestures, gender pairings, animals, food, drinks, and sports are all covered in this update. These emoji will be available on iPhone and iPad, likely with iOS 10.
The Unicode standards body has released the latest new emoji characters. It’s worth noting that the Unicode frequently approves new groups of emojis but to incorporate them into the device by the manufacturer’s take time. After being approved earlier this month, theUnicode 9.0 wasofficially released on June 21. The emojis is expected to be rolled out to operating systems like iOS and Android later this year.
Windows 10 and Android N have already included some of these new emojiin their developer builds. Apple will likely follow soon. Apple just launched iOS 10, and the emojis is probably not going to appearin the new OS. But with updates like OS 10.1 or 10.2, you’ll be able to use the 72 new emojis. Ahandful of new smileys and faces including icons that depict rolling on the floor laughing, a cowboy hat face, a clown, a liar with Pinocchio nose,drooling and nauseated faces, sneezing, shrug, pregnant woman and ‘facepalm’.Four new emojis in Unicode 9.0 has been created to pair with existing single-gender characters. Seven new hand gestures available includes,Selfie, Hand With Index And Middle Fingers Crossed, Call Me Hand, Left-Facing Fist, Right-Facing Fist, Raised Back Of Hand, Handshake.
In total, there are 13 new animals included in Unicode 9.0 and a couple of new foods that vary from fruits and vegetables to full dishes such as paella and doner kebab or a green salad. It’s worth noting thattwo emoji were unincluded in Unicode 9 thanks to objections from the voting committee. Emoji for ‘rifle’ and ‘modern pentathlon’ will notbe included as both include guniconography.
