If you are a certified teacher, here are a few tips to keep in mind when you begin to handle a class as a yoga teacher:

  1. Prepare and be yourself

If it is a full time job or weekly classes, Yoga as a discipline should be put forward to people in a systematic manner. Hence, it is always better to prepare a session in advance and have a mental note of what you will be teaching, the sequence, order, music, etc. However, don’t be too monotonous and always be up for spontaneous changes depending on the class.   1. Choice of music

Yoga practise is always better enhanced with the right kind of music playing in the background.   1. Try to maintain as much as silence as possible

  1. Add some element of fun

Although Yoga is a very strict and traditional discipline, it can get boring if there is no alteration or modification in the method of teaching or practising. Try to bring in new postures every alternative day for students to try and reward them if they get a difficult asana right, by their own. Do variations of Surya Namaskars, and surprise the class by chanting mindful music by the end of the session.

  1. Have themes around your class

Themes such as postures, concepts, metaphors, focus can be brought in while teaching to help gain a better understanding of Yoga for your clients or students.
