The trailer for Padmavati has been released and is already making the headlines. Just like Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s last few movies, the trailer of Padmavati promises a visual grandeur. Released on Monday, the three-minute trailer features vibrant colors of the Rajputana women’s skirts to the dark ashy grey colors of Alauddin Khilji’s tents.https://twitter.com/RanveerOfficial/status/917291794911522819The trailer opens to a scene from the movie, showing a long Rajput retinue walking up to what seems like Chittorgarh fort. The retinue is headed by Rawal Ratan Singh, who is played by Shahid Kapoor. Behind him is a large wall of cloth which perhaps contained Rani Padmavati, who is played by Deepika Padukone. The trailer shows many tender moments between Shahid Kapoor and Deepika Padukone. Everything seems to be going along the lines of romance before the war finally knocks at their doors in the form of the diabolical Alauddin Khilji, played by Ranveer Singh.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X_5_BLt76c0The trailer is quite successful in showing glimpses from the movie without spoiling the storyline. Only two dialogues are spoken throughout the trailer, one by Shahid Kapoor and the other by Deepika Padukone. Khilji remains quiet throughout the trailer but there is a scene which features Ranveer laughing like a maniac. Khilji’s entry in the trailer is quite thrilling and his silence throughout the trailer only leaves the audience wanting more of his evil role. Khilji’s war tents are quite contrasting to the colors of Chittor. While the fort radiates feelings of happiness and prosperity through its bright colors, Khilji’s ashy grey tent radiate cheerlessness and darkness. His tents are tattered and dusty and his intentions seem only conquering.SourceIt is to no one’s doubt that the evil that radiates from Ranveer Singh’s Khilji is the main contrasting feature to the prosperity of Rani Padmavati and Rawal Ratan Singh. The lore about the lust that Khilji had for Rani Padmavati will be exploited in the movie and December 1 cannot come any slower for the audience.
