2017 has been an epic year when it comes to summer blockbuster movies. So many smash hit movies have hit the cinemas over the past few months that it is hard to determine which ones are the best. Here is a list of the top 5 movies released over this summer that you simply have to see.

The House

It is a movie that might well have hit a bum note with the critics but don’t let that put you off. The House gives us all the chance to live the ultimate dream of turning our own homes into actual casinos without the responsibility of actually doing it. The movie stars Will Ferrell, Amy Poehler, and Jason Mantzoukas. It revolves around two suburban parents who realise that they cannot afford to pay their daughter’s college tuition fees. In order to generate the necessary funds to put their daughter through college, the parents decide to set up their own underground casino in their own house. Cue a series of unfortunate events that develop into an outrageous plot. There is no doubt that after watching this you will want to head home, fit into something more comfortable, and get your online gambling on! and with plenty of UK and US options online it’s become easier to get involved with any classic game like slots, roulette or poker. Hopefully you can live the ultimate dream like this film!

Spider-Man: Homecoming

Yes, we hear you! Not another Spider-Man re-boot movie! Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield have already donned the Spidey suit in the last 15 years so what gives us any confidence that Tom Holland will deliver something different? Well, strangely enough, the fact that this is the first Spider-Man movie involving Marvel alongside Sony gives it an extra edge and puts it inside the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Iron Man, played by Robert Downey Jr, makes an appearance. Chris Evans also cameos as Captain America in a humorous set of educational videos. This movie is superb. Holland is undoubtedly the best version of Spider-Man in a movie to date. Michael Keaton is sinister as the movie’s villain Vulture. It also advances the whole Avengers plotline along so it feels like this movie is part of something much bigger. Even if you’re not the biggest superhero fan, you will appreciate this movie for what it is. Thoroughly entertaining.

Dunkirk

Heading into the summer, this Christopher Nolan-directed war movie was flying slightly under the radar. It did receive a certain level of hype but nothing compared to its reception after its release. Nolan has once again delivered the goods. The man behind The Dark Knight Trilogy, Inception, and Interstellar gives cinema goers a gritty and haunting account of what happened between 26th May and 4th June, 1940 when 400,000 Allied soldiers were left stranded along the coast in France. A sense of victory being clutched from the depths of defeat came from 338,226 soldiers being rescued using 800 boats with a large percentage of those being private boats sailed by British civilians. Essentially, it was the moment that the Second World War started to turn for the Allies when it could have ended in total annihilation there and then. This movie stars a stunning ensemble cast including Tom Hardy, Kenneth Branagh, Mark Rylance, Cillian Murphy, and Harry Styles.

Wonder Woman

A sense of nervous tension was present when this DC Comics movie based on the female superhero was released. DC Comics movies have long had a hit and miss relationship with movie fans. Fortunately, Wonder Woman knocked it out of the park with viewers. Gal Gadot impressed as the eponymous lead character with Chris Pine offering solid support as the lead male. This movie introduces Wonder Woman aka Diana Prince to audiences and also sets things up nicely for the

Justice Squad movie that is scheduled to hit cinemas later this year.

Baby Driver

The surprise hit of the summer comes in the form of the edgy Baby Driver, directed by Edgar Wright. Fans of Wright will know him from such classic movies as Shaun of the Dead, Scott Pilgrim vs The World, and Ant-Man. He was writer, director, and producer for this movie and it oozes his trademark craft. Ansel Elgort and Jamie Foxx bounce off each other and strong support from Kevin Spacey, Lily James, and Eiza Gonzalez add some more class to this film. The story follows a young getaway driver who must dig himself out of a hole when things go south during one job. It’s quirky, it’s action-packed, and it’s fun as hell.
