There is a new Moto X on the block, and it has become the subject of some recent image leaks. As the successor to the 2015 Moto X, we can definitely see some new additions that keep up with the times. But overall, we can’t say that we are impressed.

The new Moto X images were posted on the internet by someone who got hold of a company model before the phone’s launch. While image leaks usually only showcase a device’s external features, these even manage to shed light on some internal specs. Let’s start with the most obvious. The upcoming 2017 Moto X smartphone looks pretty ordinary up front, with rounded corners and a somewhat stout build. The top bezel houses an earpiece, a front mounted camera that comes complete with a flash.

At the bottom of the display lies a fingerprint scanner. Lenovo has been pretty generous with the size of the bezels here, so don’t expect the ultra-sleek look and remarkable screen to body ratio that more and more companies are aiming for today. The company logo can be found located at the top.

The back of the device evidently packs in more of a punch with the camera design and set up. One could immediately recognize the circular familiar optics design that has graced Moto smartphones earlier. However, there is a marked difference in this case- instead of housing a single camera, the unit present in the 2017 Moto X packs in two cameras, with the flash making up the bottom part of the set up. Additional details at the back include antenna lines running along the top and the bottom, and the Moto branding embedded below the camera.

There is also a shot that details what the Moto X 2017 packs in on the inside, so expect it to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 (listed as MSM8953) chipset along with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. Sadly, we can’t say anything about the battery, but it looks like the 2017 Moto X will be a modest offering. The photos were posted by Jerry Yin on Google + and picked up by Android Authority.

There is currently no news about a possible release date, so stay tuned for more news.
