Darren Lehmann has been reportedly suffering from a deep-rooted disease for a long time, and his workload has been distributed among the other staffs. Lehmann has been previously diagnosed with deep vein thrombosis, and it gets worse while taking longer flights. And for that reason, David Saker will be sent with the Australian side to handle the responsibilities that Darren Lehmann has in the Australian ODI team.

This is not for the first time that Darren Lehmann has been temporarily replaced by someone else as the head coach of the Australian side. Previously Justin Langer has come in to take the place of Lehmann, and this thing happened in the recently concluded tri-series where South Africa and West Indies were the other two teams. Incidentally, Darren Lehmann has signed a contract with Cricket Australia to bear the responsibility of the Australian side till the 2019 World Cup which is scheduled to be held in England as well as the Ashes which will follow the World Cup.

Now coming to David Saker, he is currently the bowling coach of the one-day side of Australia. Formerly he used to be with England, and he stayed there for 5 years from 2010 to 2015. He came in as a replacement for Craig McDermott in the Australia, and this new responsibility will surely be a new feather in his hat.

After such an announcement, David Saker has been quoted saying, “It’s a huge honor to be even considered to be a coach of an Australian team, and to be given the opportunity is fantastic. I’m going to look forward to it a lot, and my ambition is to coach Australia. I know not playing cricket for Australia makes it a little bit harder.”

Australia will come to India for a seven match one-day international series in the month of October this year. Currently, there is an India vs Australia test match series going on where the series is tied at 1-1. The third Test match will begin on March 16 at Jharkhand State Cricket Association Stadium in Ranchi.
