Billions Season 3 is Happening

Billions are returning in all its glory to showtime with the third season. It’s easy to understand why the renewal was announced three weeks into the second season. So far the series has netted an audience of 4.4 million viewers, has hailed positive reviews and managed to build a robust fanbase in only a year.

Billions are returning for season 3 run.

“Billions continues to be a show on the rise, growing not only in audience but critical buzz and cultural relevance,” the premium cabler’s David Nevins said. “It offers a unique mix of pure entertainment with sly commentary on our current have/have-not economy. Season 2 is off to a tremendous start, and has only whetted our audience’s appetite for what will come in Season 3,” he added.

The show chronicles the continuous clash between U.S. Attorney and a hedge fund king on a quest of domination. The series has a 73% rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on 49 reviews and an average rating of 6.5/10. The series has managed to score “generally favorable review” on 69 out of 100 based of 37 critic’s review.

Beside Billions, the network has renewed a bunch of other dramas including Shameless, Ray Donovan and The Affair. The network’s drama includes Purity starring Daniel Craig. Showtime is currently also creating a five-part project is an adaptation of English author Edward St. Aubyn’s Booker Prize-winning novels. Showtime Networks CEO and president David Nevins had announced the new project. Cumberbatch and producer Adam Ackland said: “We are delighted to be part of this incredible series. We have been huge fans of these books for many years, and David Nicholls’ adaptations are extraordinary.” Cumberbatch has been nominated for four four Primetime Emmy Award and has won the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Miniseries or a Movie for Sherlock.

Damian Lewis, Paul Giamatti, Maggie Siff and Malin Akerman will be returning in Billions season 3 that is expected to debut in early 2018.
