The sub-compact sedan has been dubbed as a ‘styleback’ by the Indian auto giant. Built on the Tiago’s platform, the new Tata Tigor will be a strategic move in an attempt to capture the imagination of the average Indian consumer. First unveiled at the 2016 Auto Expo, the new car is also expected to provide a premium feel at a not-so-premium price. The Tata Tigor will join the ranks of the Tata Hexa and the Tata Nexon. The new Tata Kite 5 is now the Tata Tigor Tata Tigor Specs and Features: Under The Hood The new Tata Tigor has a 1.2-litre Revotron Petrol engine which has a maximum power output of 83.8bhp @ 6,000rpm and a maximum torque of 114Nm @ 3,500rpm. The petrol engine will be ably supported by a 1.05 Revotorq Diesel engine. The diesel variant will boast of a maximum power output of 69.04bhp @ 4,000rpm and a peak torque of 140Nm between a range of 1,800rpm and 3,000rpm. The new Tigor will feature two transmission options: a 5-speed Manual transmission & AMT or an automated manual transmission. The two transmission options will provide more liberty of choice for the consumer. The noise and vibrations of the new engines have been care of as well. In fact, the new engines are similar to the Tata Manza Hybrid concept first unveiled at the 2012 Delhi Auto Expo and the diesel engine is similar to the 1.4-litre DiCOR unit. Tata Tigor Specs and Features: Exterior The new Tata tigor will have a tall and comfortable presence, something that the domestic sub-compact sedan segment has been lacking. The inspiration seems to be the Tata Zest, although the Indigo has also played a part. The build quality is good and the ground clearance is decent. Expect more legroom and headspace on the new Tata Tigor. From the front, theTata Kite 5 sedan, now the Tata Tigor, is more urbane and contemporary. The front grille is lined with a good amount of chrome as well. The overall effect of the new design is more handsome. The taillamps and the headlights are recessed and will provide decent illumination. The tapering roof-lines with the accompanying high and good-looking window lines add to the effect. Tata Tigor Specs and Features: Interior Design The Tata Tigor has been carefully planned to enter the sub-compact sedan market and then take it by storm. The result is inspired by the Tata Zest as well. The dashboard and instrument panel look and feel premium. The designing of the interiors are at par with many global competitors. The interior of the new Tata Tigor will have a tinge of the preceding Tiago including an 8-speaker 2-DIN audio system armed with advanced connectivity features like USB, AUX input, and Bluetooth connectivity. The steering wheel has three spokes and is multi-functional. The upper trims will also have an electric power steering wheel. A record 420-odd liters of boot space is also set to arrive with the Tata Tigor. Additional, the interiors also sport a great many minute refinements which are delightfully overlooked at times but will improve ride quality and handling. With dual airbags and anti-lock braking system or ABS, the spec normally reserved for top-end cars will now be affordable. Also on the platter is a reverse parking camera.
