Quite unsurprisingly, then, tech people around the globe have predicted that the new S-series smartphone from Samsung will adopt some of the features that Apple famously integrated into the 2016 iPhone. But as far as the latest news goes, there will be some remarkable deviations as well. Samsung Galaxy S8. According to new reports, the Samsung Galaxy S8 will not do away with the 3.5mm headphone jack. This is not exactly surprising, as earlier speculations had pointed at the same possibility through leaked cases for the upcoming smartphone. The newest leak, however, adds weight to the claim. The news comes from Evan Blass writing for VentureBeat, where the reputed leakster posted the first ever look at the Samsung Galaxy S8 case. In the photos, one can clearly see that the 3.5mm headphone jack is still very much present in the upcoming smartphone. But what that means in terms of the speculated IP 68 certification for the device remains to be seen. Samsung Galaxy S8 First Glimpse. Image Courtesy: Venture Beat. Other rumoured features that have cooked up a storm are the placement of the fingerprint sensor in a rather odd position at the back (instead of being integrated into the display, as many had anticipated), and the Samsung branding appearing at the top quarter inch of the screen. The latter one may appease those who were grieving the loss of the branding in front of the device owing to the minimalistic bezels, but it sort of opposes the very purpose of the thin bezels. Among some of the things that make the Samsung Galaxy S8 stand out from all the past devices in the line up are the huge Super AMOLED displays sizes that cover a large chunk of the front panel. The smartphone will come in two variants of differing screen sizes, with the smaller one being equipped with a 5.8-inch and the larger one sporting a 6.2-inch display. The Samsung Galaxy S8 will be powered by the Snapdragon 835 chipset and will run Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box. RAM capacity will remain 4GB, according to Blass, and internal storage will be 64GB (expandable up to 256GB via microSD). The Samsung Galaxy S8 will sport a 12MP primary camera at the back along with an 8MP unit in front. These remain the same as the Galaxy S7, but with significant improvements will be seen in both. On the battery side, the upcoming smartphone will be backed by a 3000mAh and a 3500mAh battery for the 5.8-inch and 6.2-inch variants respectively. We expect more details to surface as we close in on the device’s launch date. The Samsung Galaxy S8 is expected to be launched on March 29, 2017.
