
The 2017 Land Rover Evoque’s petrol variant has finally arrived on Indian shores and is priced at Rs. 53.20 lakhs. This launch follows the diesel variant’s launch last month. This compact luxury crossover SUV is produced by the British manufacturer Land Rover, which is an integral part of the Indian icon Tata’s Jaguar Land Rover group. Available since July 2011 in three and five-door versions, with both two-wheel and four-wheel drive, the Evoque is designed to ensure that the car sells well outside its core markets as well. The Land Rover Evoque when first unveiled in the UK sold nearly 88,000 units.

Of the trims offered globally by the auto giant, only the Land Rover Evoque‘s SE trim will launch in India, when compared to the diesel variant which launched across all five trim levels. The SE trim will launch in two variants- a 2.0-litre petrol and a 2.0-litre diesel. Land Rover has moved away from the traditional build to offer a more modern unibody construction technique for improved handling and better ride quality. The new 2.o-litre petrol engine boasts of a 237 HP output and 340 Nm of torque. This combination of high power is mated to a 9-speed automatic gearbox. ensuring top-class transmission options. We expect that the 2017 Land Rover Evoque petrol version can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 7.6 seconds with a top speed of 217 km/h. Interestingly, this is the same engine fitted in the existing Land Rover Discovery Sport. However, the petrol Evoque is actually cheaper than the petrol powered Discovery Sport which costs an extra 4 lakhs. The Land Rover Evoque has two basic models: the five-door Evoque and the three-door Evoque Coupé. Both models are available in four trim levels, Pure, Prestige, Pure Tech and Dynamic. A fixed sunroof and an 8–inch touch screen entertainment system complete the interiors. The unique feature of the touch display is that it can display two different images simultaneously to both the driver and front passengers. The 2017 Evoque petrol version will also feature a push button start system. The cabin seats a total of four, with optional heated seating, a heated steering wheel, and windscreen wipers. Expect a 5-inch driver’s information display on the car as well.
2017 Land Rover Evoque Price and Competition
The 2017 Land Rover Evoque petrol version will face off against the likes of the Honda CR-V, the Toyota Fortuner and the Mercedes-Benz GLA besides the BMW X3 and the Volvo XC90. There are SUVs of the same segment which are priced lower like the Renault Duster and the Ford Ecosport. Competition in mind, the 2017 Land Rover Evoque has ben priced strategically at Rs. 53.20 lakhs. One important thing about buying the Land Rover is not the price, though: the user also pays for the brand value and the world-class features. On the other hand, the Land Rover Discovery Sport at a starting price of Rs 47.59 lakh while the flagship Range Rover costs Rs 2.13 crores. The Jaguar Land Rover group clearly has big plans for India.
