The 2017 Hyundai Grand i10 Prime is all set to replace the Grand i10 which Hyundai launched in India in 2013. Every auto enthusiast knows that car was, and remains, a major success, with sales hitting the roof. The successor to this bestseller will be the 2017 Hyundai i10 Prime, a slightly modified version which adds more character and sportiness to the exterior fascia while upgrading the interiors subtly. The new 2017 Hyundai Grand i10 Prime will come with a new and more powerful 1.2-litre diesel engine instead of the original 1.1-litre version. The 1.2-litre diesel will be more powerful with a higher torque at an estimated 190Nm and power rating at around 74bhp than the outgoing engine. The petrol trim, however, will continue with the 1.2-litre Kappa petrol VTVT engine with a power output of81bhp @6000rpm and a torque of114Nm @4000rpm. A5-speed Manual Transmission & a 4-speed Automatic Transmission on the petrol variant is expected. A 6-speed manual gearbox for both engine variants might make the cut in the future.
Design-wise, the 2017 Hyundai Grand i10 Prime has seen a few not-so-subtle changes. The exteriors are redesigned. The i10 Grand Prime gets an all-new restyled headlamps with LED daytime running lights, although they might well be sported in the upper trims only. The front fascia has been considerably redesigned and the car comes with the new Cascade design hexagonal grille with a thick black slate running across it. The front bumper has been redone and the changes are reminiscent of the one we saw in the Europe-specific version. The new round fog lamps have been located inside a plush L-shaped housing carved directly into the bumper and the car also gets new front air curtains. The overall effect is a sportier and bolder look. Plus, a new set ofdiamond cut alloy wheels may also be featured in the Asta premium variant. The rear is not subjected to a lot of change, with only a restyled tail lamp cluster and a redesigned roof mounted spoiler spotted.
Hyundai Grand i10 Prime 2017 Interiors
The interiors of the new 2017 Hyundai i10 Grand Prime are luxurious, updated and well-received. The 2016 Paris Motor Show, where the 2017 updated model was first displayed, came with black and red dual tone interior with matching upholstery. While we expect that the India-bound model too will also get dual tone treatment, the colour combination might be changed.
The 2017 Hyundai i10 Grand Prime boasts a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Audio-Visual Navigation and with smartphone connectivity. Other infotainment accessorieswill include Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Mirror Link along with a very good voice command feature. Features like automatic climate control, rear AC vents and rear parking camera willcomplete a very good mid-size car.
2017 Hyundai Grand i10 Prime Safety Features
The newly redesigned Grand Prime will sport the very latest when it comes to passenger and driver safety. While no official word on the safety features has been received, the car is expected to offer dual front Airbags along with ABS with EBD which will come as a standard feature. The EBD on such aB-segment hatchback will rival those offered by the Maruti Swift, a very close competitor. We also expect new additions likelane departure warning and front collision warning systems.
2017 Hyundai Grand i10 Prime Price and Competition
The all-new Hyundai Grand i10 Prime will arrive in four trims in both petrol and diesel models. While the petrol versions are priced at Rs 4.58 lakh to Rs 6.39 lakh, the diesel variants will range from Rs 5.68 lakh to Rs 7.32 lakh. This will make the Hyundai offering a very good and economical hatchback and is expected to do well. Available in colour options likeMorning Blue, Polar White, Sleek Sliver and Aqua Sparkling, the new car is expected to launch by March and will compete against the Maruti Swift and the Mahindra KUV100.
