Eon is the entry level model in Hyundai line-up in India. The model is specifically designed for Indian roads, and it is positioned below Hyundai’s two other popular models- Santro and i10. The Hyundai Eon model is yet to receive any single update even after five years since its launch back in 2011. But finally, the time has come when the Hyundai Eon is going to get a cosmetic update in its entry level hatchback model, and this is going to happen very soon this year. To face the increasing competition from other competitors in this price segment, Hyundai has adopted this strategy to boost up their sales.
2017 Hyundai Eon Specs and Features: Under the Hood
In the entry-level hatchback market India, Eon is one of the popular cars among customers for a long time along with Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 and Alto K10. But with the launch of new cars at this price level such as Renault KWID and Datsun REDI-Go, the completion has become steeper and hence to achieve higher market share over these competitors, Hyundai Eon is going to have some moderate changes as part of their facelift.
The Eon was built on the basis of fluidic design philosophy by the Korean manufacturer. Now the updated model will be built on fluidic sculpture 2.0 design philosophy. There will be airbag features for high-end models and also central locking feature is there in the car for better safety purpose. There will be some minor changes in the engine segment for the new model. As for the engine, the new model is likely to continue with the same spec. It is going to have two variants of the engine:-
- 800 cc petrol iRDE with max power of 55 bhp @5500 RPM and 75 Nm torque @4000 RPM. It is expected to give the same mileage around 20 KMPL.
- 1.0 litre Kappa Dual VTVT three-cylinder petrol with 5-speed manual transmission with max power of 69 bhp @6200 bhp and 94 Nm @3400 RPM. It is expected to give the same mileage around 18 KMPL. The only change is expected to be the four-speed automatic transmission for the 1.0-litre variant.
2017 Hyundai Eon Design: Exteriors
The new facelift model of Eon is expected to go through extensive changes in both its exteriors and interiors. There will be restyling in both the Headlamps and taillamps. The bumpers of the car are also likely to be updated. There will be revised Front Grille in the new model. There will also be new wheel caps and Upholstery in the facelift. There will be designer fog lights in the car as per old model, and the wheels will be fully covered. The door handles and side mirrors will be colored as per color of the car. Hyundai will be providing the same set of colors for their new model as Sleek Silver, Polar White,Pristine Blue,Star Dust and Red Passion.
2017 Hyundai Eon Design: Interiors
There will also be minor changes in the new model’s interior. To compete with Renault KWID, the facelift model of Eon is going to provide touchscreen infotainment system in the car. The other features would most likely be same as the old model. The seats are of bucket type, and the vehicle provides ample luggage and boot space. There would be power windows, and also the rear windows can be adjusted by pressing the button from inside. The instrument panel has a chrome dial, and the dashboard provides space for keeping keys, mobiles and other objects.
2017 Hyundai Eon Price and Competition
The new model is going to have almost the same price as that of the old model. The price of the 0.8 Litre petrol model is expected to vary from 3.25 Lakh (Base Model) to 4.25 Lakh (Top Model), and that of 1.0 Litre petrol model is expected to vary between 4.2 Lakh (Base Model) and 4.65 lakh (Top Model).
The competition of the car is the low price segment hatchback like Maruti Suzuki Alto 800, Alto K10, Renault KWID and Datsun REDI-Go.
2017 Hyundai Eon Launch Date
This year Hyundai is expected to come up with lots of facelift with their old models like Eon, Santro, i10 and Verna. Hence this year it will be quite a busy year for Hyundai. The new Hyundai Eon facelift is expected to launch at the mid of 2017, around June.
