The country’s own most prestigious and dream project named as South Asian satellite is all set to be launched by 2017 exclusively for the benefits of SAARC members. The proposal was carried forward by Honourable PM Narendra Modi in the presence of Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) Chairman A S Kiran Kumar.

The satellite, although, was pre-decided to be launched by December 2016 but got postponed to March 2017. The press meet held at the Research Centre comprised a sidelines of the function where the higher dignitaries mentioned every detail regarding the launch and its benefits.

Earlier during the SAARC summit held in November 2014 Nepal Mr Modi stated that launching the SAARC satellite would be a gesture of pride along with gift to the members where they will adhere the benefits of grouping in varied fields which include medicine, tele-communication and so on. Named as SAARC satellite earlier but Pakistan later on choosing out of the mission, it was thus named as South Asian satellite.

In terms of the orbitory mission, India had earlier discussed various experts regarding the anomalies thus finalizing modalities in regional grouping. The discussion was held among the experts in deliberation belonging to other SAARC nations.

Regarding the ongoing work process on GSLV Mark III which is most likely to be launched by December 2016, ISRO Chairman stated as the “work in full process”. The current launch mission is stated to be crucial for India as it will help boosting in manpower as well as satellite infrastructure, eventually weighing around 4 tonnes.

As per ISRO Chairman A S Kiran Kumar, We have started the assembly for the launch in Sriharikota. So we are working towards making it happen as early as possible and are targeting for launch by December end whereas SAARC satellite will be launched in March. 

The sole motto to launch such satellites was to keep a keen watch over the necessary usage of existing facilities provided by the organization in full circle.
